New Windsor police step up enforcement at busy intersection

Posted: Updated:
NEW WINDSOR -

Police are increasing patrols at a five-corner intersection in New Windsor after a number of accidents and near misses there.

The busy crossing serves as a junction for Routes 300, 32 and 94.

Police say drivers frequently misuse lanes and parking lots as shortcuts. And the state Department of Transportation is installing new signs for drivers.

"They'll see, maybe realize just wait that extra few minutes, and you'll get through eventually,"  says Lt. Michael Farbent of the New Windsor Police Department.

Police say motorists should expect to see an enhanced presence for the foreseeable future, especially during rush hour.
