Rye Brook teens become international philanthropists

Two young women from Rye Brook are spending money raised at charity art shows to help people near and far.
Dasha Boswell and Ris Igrec are the two parts who form Artists for Impact, an organization they launched last year to give artists space to exhibit their work.
They raised $500 at their first event. But they didn't have a plan for the money at the time.
So they turned to John Monreal, the father of one of their classmates, who runs another charity called Futbol For Kids.
Monreal's work brings things like water purifiers and soccer balls to impoverished areas in South America.
"I was able to donate 50 soccer balls," to kids in Peru, Monreal says. "When I left, they were extremely happy. They had smiles on their faces because of these two difference makers."
Those difference makers are Boswell and Igrec, who followed up with another art show, raised even more money, and spent that helping a local LGBTQ advocacy group called The Loft.
Now as they apply to colleges, the two young philanthropists are also planning their next project, setting up a website and looking to help people near and far with their work.
