Montefiore Nyack Hospital emergency department to double in size

The emergency department at Montefiore Nyack Hospital will soon double in size as part of a $22 million transformation project.
Hospital officials tell News 12 that the ER is seeing about 60,000 patients annually, while they were originally equipped for around 35,000.
CEO Mark Geller describes Nyack Hospital as Rockland County's main trauma center.
Doctors say the new department will be divided into areas that will enable patients to get the appropriate care they need more quickly, including a separate pediatrics space, a new urgent care space, separate adult medical surgical space and separate trauma and behavioral units.
The state, along with hospital fundraising, helped fund the project.
The whole project is expected to be completed in 2020.
