Long-horned tick found in Rockland County

A new tick species was discovered in Rockland County.
The long-horned tick has been popping up in locations in the northeast, and health officials warn it has the potential to transmit diseases.
Park-goers aren't playing around when it comes to these critters.
"You have to be really careful, I've seen them myself; they're very, very tiny, like the size of a period," says Frank Marian, of Nanuet. "Just put a little extra bug spray on. Definitely check in your shoes, in your socks."
Officials say if you're bit by a tick of any kind and develop a rash or flu-like symptoms to contact your doctor.
