TARRYTOWN -

State Assemblyman Tom Abinanti endorsed former "Sex and the City" star Cynthia Nixon as she continues her bid for the Democratic nomination for governor.

Abinanti gave the political push for Nixon as she continues to stump for votes in the Hudson Valley.

"It's time for progressive change," Abinanti said.

Nixon says she's seeking more transparency when it comes to the name of the Mario M. Cuomo Bridge.

"It's not out of place to name an important landmark after him, but I'm not sure that was the right way to do it without community participation, without the community weighing in," she says.

There are currently more than 1,000 signatures on a petition to state officials to rescind the name. Nixon says if elected she wants more community involvement.

Republican candidate Marcus Molinaro also said if elected he would change the name back to the Tappan Zee Bridge.
