MOUNT VERNON -

Police say they are investigating after a man was shot in Mount Vernon just before 11.a.m. Friday.

They say the man was shot on South Second Avenue Friday.

"He got shot in the neck," says Jerry Jones, of Mount Vernon. The victim has not yet been identified, but Jones says the victim is his younger brother.

News 12 is told the man was sent to Jacobi Medical Center.

According to Jones, the victim was shot while sitting on his porch in a drive-by shooting. However, that information has not been confirmed by police.

"It's a lot of violence in Mount Vernon, a lot of guns," Jones says. "They have to come in and control what's going on."

Police say the victim is expected to recover.
