A Lakewood couple was viciously beaten during a home invasion robbery, according to police.

Authorities say that the robbery happened Wednesday around 2:20 a.m. at the home on Eagle Ridge Circle. Police say that at least one person broke into the home, assaulted the elderly couple and tied them up.

Police say that the male victim was found inside the home’s garage. The woman was then found inside the home. The thieves had left before police arrived.

Officials say that the couple is being treated at Jersey Shore University Medical Center. The extent of their injuries was not immediately made clear.
