City releases footage of Yonkers firefighters involved in 2 fights

Posted: Updated:

The city of Yonkers released video Friday showing two off-duty Yonkers firefighters taking part in two violent altercations in June.

The first video was taken inside Rory Dolan's on Mclean Avenue at 1 a.m. June 11. It shows the firefighters talking amongst themselves before a man suddenly shoves one of them. In retaliation, the firefighter who was shoved smashes the man in the head with a barstool.

That same morning just two hours later, a man and woman are seen walking in front of the City Lights Gentleman's Club on Yonkers Avenue. The man appears to be walking away from a group of men behind him in the distance. He suddenly turns back to confront one of the firefighters who then punches him and knocks him to the ground. The man was on the ground for five minutes while the other men in the group just stood there.

The two firefighters caught on video are Bogdin Kosilov, 25, and Lt. Christopher Mitchell, 41. Both are facing criminal charges and are due to attend hearings on Oct. 30.

The man identified in the incident outside the gentleman's club is Keith Lowell of Pennsylvania. Lowell filed a lawsuit last week against the city of Yonkers, claiming it was negligent in training and supervising its employees.

The city responded to the lawsuit, saying that both firefighters were off duty at the time therefore it has no liability. The city is confident that its stance on the matter will prevail in court.
