A Hudson Valley man is among many volunteers sent by the American Red Cross to the Carolinas to help Florence victims.
Jose Dominguez is stationed at a mega-shelter at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Dominguez says the shelter has hundreds of evacuees, some of whom came without family members who had decided to stay behind.
The Red Cross says they are doing everything they can to provide for the community as they await an unpredictable future.
The group is providing food, shelter and anything else people need while they stay there.
"Keep these people in your thoughts, they are amazing people, they are really resilient," says Dominguez.
