A Monroe-Woodbury assistant JV coach is accused of sending sexually explicit images to a teen girl, and now the Orange County district attorney is looking to see if there are others.
Justin Kaffenberger, 23, was arrested Wednesday night for allegedly sending a 15-year-old girl sexual text messages.
Kaffenberger was a student and star football player at Monroe-Woodbury High School. He graduated in 2013.
According to the Orange County district attorney, a complaint was filed accusing Kaffenberger of sending naked pictures of himself to a 15-year-old girl and requesting she perform sexual acts.
District officials say Kaffenberger went through an extensive vetting process, but he was still able to slip through the cracks.
Elsie Rodriguez, the superintendent of Monroe-Woodbury Central School District, said in part, "We understand the sensitivity and seriousness of this matter and are cooperating fully with authorities. We want to reassure our families that this individual will not be on school property.”
Kaffenberger was charged with two counts of sending indecent material to a minor and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
He was released on bail and is due back in court Sept. 24.
