The Republican candidate for governor of New York continues to blast Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s handling of the opening of the new Gov. Mario Cuomo Bridge.

Marc Molinaro made a pit stop in Tarrytown Sunday morning as part of his “Cuomo Corruption Tour.” During the visit, he called for keeping the centuries-old history of the Tappan Zee Bridge alive with the effort to keep its name, but also for an investigation into the controversial opening of the bridge.

"[The opening] requires an after-action report,” said Molinaro. “It requires a complete investigation and then a public report as to what occurred and what is the condition of both the old Tappan Zee Bridge and the new one."

Molinaro says that he does not believe a report will ever come to the surface because it would expose what has been a consistent effort to push the project forward and compromise the safety of commuters in order to meet a political schedule.

The New York Thruway Authority has consistently told News 12 the old Tappan Zee Bridge is of no risk to commuters. However, Molinaro said the bridge saga is one of many recent examples of how the state is corrupt.

Molinaro says he has since created an outlet for state employees to safely speak out and expose the corruption that they've been forced to hide.

"We're standing here today to launch Cuomoleaks.com for the purpose of allowing those who fear for their well-being to come forward, to speak out and finally put an end to what is a criminal enterprise,” said Molinaro. 

The Thruway Authority commented on Molinaro's rally Sunday saying, "The Tappan Zee Contractors will be legally responsible for not meeting the original contract date. Molinaro should apologize for making another reckless, false political attack."

Recently, the Cuomo campaign accused  Molinaro of providing tax breaks to a wealthy donor who also employed the Dutchess County executive's wife.

Aa spokesperson from Gov. Cuomo’s office told News 12, "He can shed as many crocodile tears as he wants over transparency, but they mean nothing until he answers critical questions about his own troubling history of quid pro quo—answers he has willfully hid from the public by refusing to release his tax returns or properly file ethics disclosures."
