Pediatric center plans major expansion

A Westchester County children's medical facility is celebrating its 30th anniversary by planning a major expansion.
The Elizabeth Seton Pediatric Center is the largest post-acute care facility in the entire country, caring for 169 of the most medically complex children in the state.
On Sunday, its CEO announced plans for expansion, including the construction of a young adult facility for those between the ages of 21 and 35. "We have children who are now – which is great news – living passed the age of 21, and there's really no appropriate facility for them to go. So they are really forced to go to adult nursing homes, and we want to be the first of the kind to develop a home for medical complex children," says Elizabeth Seton Pediatric Center CEO Pat Tursi.
The hope is to build the facility next to the current building.
No word on when construction is expected to begin.
