Bronxville School District closed today due to flooding

BRONXVILLE -

Students in the Bronxville School District are staying home today because of flooding issues.

The school on Pondfield Road has had flooding problems in the past, but pumps were installed to keep the water out.

However, the rain fell so hard and fast on Tuesday that the pumps were overwhelmed and water started entering the building.

School officials reacted quickly and sent texts to parents to inform them of an early dismissal.

Workers packed hundreds of sandbags around the back entrance to the school while students evacuated through the front door of the building.

While the water has been cleared, district officials have decided to keep the school closed today in case of more rain and to get the building dried out.
