Gov. Cuomo signs bill renaming Bear Mountain Bridge

Another bridge in the Hudson Valley has a new name.    

Gov. Andrew Cuomo has signed new legislation changing the official name of the Bear Mountain Bridge.

The Hudson River span is now called the "Purple Heart Veterans Memorial Bridge."

Representatives in Albany approved the name change in June.

The bill also honors retiring state Sen. Bill Larkin, naming the roadway that leads to the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor in New Windsor after him.
