Yonkers man pleads guilty to attempted murder

Posted: Updated:

A Yonkers man pleaded guilty to second-degree attempted murder in Westchester County Court on Tuesday.

Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino Jr. says Diamante Powell, 20, shot his victim several times after an altercation on Prospect Street in Yonkers in 2016.

Prosecutors say Powell knew the victim. They say the victim had to undergo several surgeries and will never fully recover.

In a plea deal, Powell is expected to get eight and a half years in prison when he's sentenced next year.
