A developer who wanted to transform a piece of abandoned property in New City into a $4.5 million residence for seniors has pulled out.

Rockland County Executive Ed Day sarcastically slammed the Legislature outside of the Sain Building Tuesday, claiming certain members let the building deteriorate for years until rising construction costs pushed the buyer out and left them to “declare this property surplus immediately."
News 12 first uncovered building violations at the Sain Building over a year ago in the Playing With Fire series, complete with cameras capturing the disrepair inside as well as expired fire detectors all while county employees were still working there.
The Sain Building hasn't been occupied for nearly a year.but County Executive Day says there are still many ways the piece of property can be used.
