A Yonkers man says he encountered a python slinking across his neighborhood Tuesday evening.
John Cardona says he walked outside his Riverdale Avenue apartment building to see the slithering serpent on a tarp.
Cardona says he put the snake over his shoulder and walked over to the Third Precinct.
Officer Rob McDonough says he kept it behind his desk until the owner of Pet World on South Broadway stepped in to take care of the friendly, female ball python.
No one has reported a missing python in the area.  If an owner doesn't come forward, her sale price could be close to $200.
The python could grow up to six feet long.
