Sen. Richard Blumenthal heard from students and educators about teen e-cigarette use on Thursday.

New statistics show the number of high school students using e-cigarettes has doubled since 2015.

Nearly 15 percent of high school students now report using electronic nicotine delivery systems.

"I want to hear from young people about why they are running to use these e-cigarettes,” says Sen. Blumenthal. “The rate of usage among teenagers has doubled, it’s doubled over just the last year.”

Blumenthal says he demands strong federal enforcement, including a ban on flavored e-cigarettes which he says are designed to lure children into a lifetime of addiction.
