Orange County man sentenced for killing brother

BLOOMING GROVE -

An Orange County man was sentenced Monday to 20 years to life for the fatal shooting of his younger brother in February.

George Bawn, 38, pleaded guilty in September to killing his brother, James, in his home in Mountain Lodge Park in Blooming Grove.

Bawn showed no emotion as prosecutors told the court he ruthlessly shot his brother twice in the head, once in the neck and once in the torso with a stolen gun.

The murder took place at the very same time James Bawn was on the phone with 911 pleading for his life.

Bawn's attorney made a passionate plea that his client deserves less than an automatic life sentence, arguing Bawn has taken responsiblity for the crime.

Bawn's attorney says his client was living with his father and two brothers in a tight and tense situation.
