Consumer Reports has released its list of the most and least reliable vehicles.
The publication surveyed half a million car owners to find out what they liked and didn’t like about their vehicles.
Lexus was the big winner, according to the 2018 survey. It was chosen as the most reliable car brand, and also produced the single-most reliable vehicle – the GX line of SUVs.
Toyota ranked No. 2 for reliability, followed next by Mazda.
The survey found that American car companies did not rank as high on the list. Ford was ranked the highest at No. 18, followed by Buick and Lincoln.
Consumer Report says that Volvo, a car company that has made its reputation on being reliable, actually ranked as least reliable.
Meanwhile, Subaru and Toyota are recalling more than 400,000 cars worldwide because of a faulty engine part that could cause them to stall while driving.
The recall involves some of the 2012 and 2013 model Subaru Foresters, Imprezas and BRZs, as well as Scion FRSes. Owners should be notified by mail starting in December. But as News 12 New Jersey has previously reported, recall notices are often sent to the car’s original owner.
Anyone who has purchased one of these vehicles pre-owned may want to check the government’s car recall database
