Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand have won their re-election bids.
The two-term governor called this midterm election the most important election of his lifetime.
He watched the results at the Sheraton in Manhattan, where the race was quickly called over Republican challenger Marc Molinaro, the current Dutchess County executive.
Sen. Gillibrand defeated Republican challenger Chele Farley to win re-election to the U.S. Senate. She was heavily favored in the election and has been talked about as a potential presidential candidate in 2020.
New York City Public Advocate Letitia James was elected attorney general, beating Republican Keith Wofford.
