Dozens of ROTC members place over 3,000 flags on veterans’ gravesites

Hudson Valley students honored veterans no longer with us by placing flags at their gravesites ahead of Veterans Day.
Elena Cruz, a Minisink Valley high school student and Junior ROTC member, solemnly placed a flag at the gravesite of her relative, Navy veteran Howard Conklin Jr., at the Orange County Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Goshen.

She is one of dozens of ROTC members who helped place more than 3,000 at the gravesites of veterans.
The veteran community in Orange County was grateful to the students for their act of service. The flags will remain in place until at least a week after Veterans Day.
After that, they will be put in storage and brought out again to honor the veterans on Memorial Day.
