Orange County declared a state of emergency through 5 a.m. Friday as the Hudson Valley was devastated by a powerful autumn snowstorm.
The storm had transitioned over to sleet and rain by Thursday night.
Orange County Emergency Management reported major traffic delays on interstates 84  and 87, as well as along routes 17 and 6.
The county was estimated to receive 8 to 12 inches of snow.
