Couple killed in I-78 crash in PA was traveling to their own wedding

A New Jersey couple killed in a crash on Interstate-78 in Pennsylvania last week was on the way to their own wedding.
Kathryn Schurtz and Joseph Kearney, both 35, were on the way to Pittsburgh Nov. 14 when they were involved in a chain-reaction crash with several tractor-trailers.
"The tractor-trailer ran into the back of the passenger vehicle, which then started a chain-reaction crash that involved five commercial vehicles and the passenger car," said Pennsylvania State Police Trooper David Beohm.
Schurtz and Kearney lived in Jersey City. Schurtz was the daughter of former Fanwood councilwoman Karen Schurtz, and was a graduate of Union Catholic High School. Kearney was from Pittsburgh.
A viewing was held for Schurtz Monday, with a funeral scheduled for Tuesday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Scotch Plains.
