Black Friday shoppers at the Tanger Outlets in Deer Park found themselves in a traffic nightmare.
The streets around the outlets looked more like parking lots than roads as drivers packed the area trying to take advantage of Black Friday deals.
Some say the drive that normally takes no time at all took a half-hour to 45 minutes at some points. Even drivers not doing their shopping were inconvenienced.
The gridlock got so bad that police were brought in to help direct traffic.
The big Black Friday sales also brought a huge number of people to the Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City.
Retail experts say Black Friday isn't what it used to be in recent years, but stores are doing a better job of competing with online deals in 2018. They say there will be more sales happening in the coming weeks.
