Pediatric patients at NYU Winthrop Hospital were given toys Tuesday as a way to brighten up their stay around the holidays.

The toys and gift cards were collected by students from schools across Long Island. They were handed out by hospital staff and elected officials.

Doctors say bringing a smile to someone's face is the best medicine.

The patients say they're thankful to get some holiday happiness.
