Montrose group prepares people for terror situations

A group of people in Montrose is learning how to fight back against terrorism.
A specialized training group called "Stop The Bleed" meets at the Cortlandt Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
The training teaches attendees what to do in the event of a mass casualty situation like applying compression and packing open wounds.
Director of Operations Justin Costable teaches the course that is open to the public. He uses kits that are equipped with eight tourniquets each, which can be vital in trauma situations.
Hendrick Hudson High School in Montrose will have two of those kits in the building, and every coach will be trained.
The images of mass shootings have weighed heavily on people worldwide. Most recently, a gunman opened fire near a popular Christmas market in France, killing at least three people.
