A Long Island Rail Road train struck a truck on the tracks in Westhampton early Thursday morning, suspending service on the Montauk branch.
Police say a LIRR commuter train from Southampton to Penn Station slammed into a broken-down tractor-trailer. It happened around 5 a.m. on Old Depot Road.
There was one passenger on the train at the time. No one was hurt.
The truck driver received a ticket for driving on a road that is not authorized for trucks.
LIRR service was suspended for hours between Montauk and Speonk. There were ongoing repairs to the Montauk line due to signal damage caused by the collision.
There was no word on whether the Friday morning commute would be impacted.
