Harckham sworn in as state senator for NY's 40th District

Peter Harckham was officially sworn in Sunday as state senator for parts of Westchester and the Hudson Valley.
He is the first Democrat to hold the seat in the 40th District in over 100 years.
Sen. Harckham was joined by Gov. Andrew Cuomo, Peekskill Mayor Andre Rainey and Westchester County Executive George Latimer during the inauguration ceremony.
He defeated two-term Republican State Sen. Terrence Murphy. He says his victory over the Murphy was a part of a "blue wave," a sign that people want change.
Sen. Harckham says he will fight for what his constituents need, no matter how they voted in November.
