‘Peeping Tom’ suspect recorded on home security cameraPosted: Updated:
A woman in Bedford Corners says her privacy was invaded twice by a "Peeping Tom."
Police say a couple of months ago, the woman was coming out of her shower when she saw a man peering in her bedroom window. They say the man fled into nearby woods of the Cliffside Lane neighborhood after the homeowner screamed.
She called the police, and they recommended putting security cameras outside of her window.
On Jan. 2, around 8 p.m., officials say the motion-sensing camera placed directly under the bedroom window recorded the same man carrying a ladder. The man saw the camera and took off running, again into the woods. Police say they believe the ladder may have been stolen from a nearby home.
The suspect is described as a white man, in his late teens or early 20s, wearing glasses and having a beard or mustache.
Police are asking for the public's help in trying to identify the man and are urging people in the area to be on the lookout.
They say they are increasing patrols in and around the neighborhood.
Neighbors say they were very surprised when they found flyers from police put in their neighborhood with the photo of the suspect.
"Very disturbing, but it says something about the neighborhood that everybody banded together. We watch each other's houses all the time so any strangers coming into the neighborhood, we're pretty much on alert all the time," says David Westcott
