'Suspicious' package turned into Milford police prompts headquarters shutdown
Milford police closed the lobby of their department off to the public Friday after someone turned in a 'suspicious' package at their headquarters, police say.
The incident happened at the Milford police headquarters around 10 a.m.
Officer Mike Devito says a resident was cleaning his house out and found a suspicious item and didn't know what it was.
The man placed the item in a bag and brought it to the police department. He left it in his car before going inside to talk with officers.
The bomb squad was called in and sealed the parking lot off before removing the item from the man's car.
Police did not say what was inside the bag.

The lobby of the building was opened a short time later.
