Police say a young woman and her passenger have been arrested after they crashed and tried to run from officers.

The crash happened on Sunrise Highway in North Babylon just before 7:30 p.m. Sunday near Lotus Street.

Police say 19-year-old Keyanna Hagood, of Islip, was being pulled over, but refused to stop.

The pair sped away, crashed and Hagood and Christopher Bonacorsi, of Shirley, ran from the crash scene, according to police.

The pair were found a short time later in the backyard of a home on Freedom Street and arrested.

They are expected to be arraigned later this morning.
