PORT CHESTER -

A White Plains man is accused of starting a fire at a vacant home in Port Chester.

Michael Johnson, 45, was arrested on Wednesday and is now charged with arson.

The suspicious fire broke out in the basement of the home at 61 Smith St. on Tuesday morning.  It took firefighters from several different departments close to three hours to put out the stubborn flames amid heavy smoke.

No one was hurt in the fire.

Investigators says there was a partial collapse inside, so the house will probably be knocked down at some point.
