Scarsdale kosher supermarket set to reopen under new managementPosted: Updated:
A formerly bankrupt kosher supermarket is getting ready to open once again in Scarsdale.
Seasons is preparing to reopen next week at the Golden Horseshoe Shopping Center. The supermarket chain filed for bankruptcy last fall.
The store will be under new management.
"The old stores didn't have everything that we have," says Seasons produce manager Hesh Weinreb. "We have a full bakery, full sushi, full deli. We're having a fish department, a real solid meat department. The produce ... top of the line."
Those who live in the neighborhood are excited to have a nearby kosher spot again.
"I have a daughter-in-law from Israel, and when she would come in, I would shop at this store and get her special little treats," says Ellen Epstein, of Scarsdale.
People in the Jewish community say since Seasons closed up shop last September, it became an inconvenience finding good kosher food. Many opted to go to Scarsdale's Trader Joe's, which has kosher offerings.
The store officially reopens next Tuesday.
