A Rochester teenager that received a heart transplant has been recovering at the Blythedale Children's Hospital in Valhalla.
Zach Losee, 15, fell ill in October and says he wasn't sure if he'd be able to play his favorite sports again. Doctors say the unknown virus Losee caught turned into heart failure.
He says he went onto the organ transplant list and within 10 days, received a new heart inside of a New York City hospital.
Losee says days after surgery, he was barely able to walk. He was then admitted to Blythedale Children's Hospital for rehabilitation.
"Everyone's so genuine around here," says Losee. "They really want to see the best out of you."
Losee has a team of therapists, teachers, doctors and his mother Julie taking care of him.
He says he will be leaving the hospital in time for Valentine's Day.
