Putnam Valley neighbors remember teen who fatally shot himself

The Putnam Valley community is rallying behind the family of a teenager who died last week.
Elias Knapp, 17, accidentally shot himself in the head while playing with a gun outside his home on Ridge Avenue in front of his girlfriend and two other friends. He later died from his injuries.
Residents tell News 12 the Putnam Valley High School senior was known and loved by everyone in town.
Neighbors wore blue shirts in his honor and hung blue lights outside homes to remember Knapp, who had blue eyes.
Knapp's girlfriend of three years, Amanda Faul, watched her boyfriend die in her arms. She says she is finding strength in how much the community has come together since his death.
"He was incredibly, deeply loved and came from an amazing family and I'm so, so blessed to have known him," Faul said.
She also says that doctors told her if it wasn't for everything she did to help Knapp, he wouldn't be an organ donor.
A GoFundMe page was started by a family friend in Knapp's honor and has already raised $20,000.
Funeral services will be held for Elias in Shrub Oak Saturday afternoon.
