At least eight intersections in neighborhoods like Ditmas Park and Williamsburg have been cited among the most dangerous in New York City, according to a new report.
Localize.City conducted the study to help residents know what areas are safe for walking and cycling. It looked at the neighborhoods where one-lane streets intersect and had a high number of pedestrians and cyclists injured.

Transportation Alternatives issued a statement that says in part, "Better street designs and automated enforcement have been deployed in neighborhoods across the city. With this new data, we know where future safety improvements can do the most good."

A block in Ditmas Park has two intersections on the list. Newkirk Avenue and Argyle Road had four injured pedestrians and three injured cyclists. Newkirk Avenue and Rugby Road had four injured pedestrians and two injured cyclists.
Some residents say that part of the problem is some blocks don't have stop signs, and that drivers don’t pay attention to the ones that do.
"Cars don't obey the stop signs, they go very, very fast. I guess they're much in a hurry but we have a school here on the corner of Coney Island and children are always crossing,” says Fernando Reyes.

Reyes says he's so concerned about the safety of the neighborhood that he's considering filing a petition to make sure that safety enhancements are made along the block.
