Popular southern eatery to close its doors after 13 years

A renowned southern restaurant on Long Island is closing its door after more than a decade.

For years, Leisa and her mother Lillian Dent proudly served Long Islanders recipes that come from their family's Georgia roots at their Carle Place eatery LL Dent.
Since 2006, Leisa and Lillian have been cooking up soul food that's steeped in tradition and cooked with care. They say their customers leave full, with more than food.
"I have inadvertently given a lot of advice to people and I guess it's something about my personality," says Leisa. "They trust me. So I will miss a lot of that."
The mother-daughter duo say after 13 years, costs became too high and the work became too exhausting. Leisa hopes that in LL Dent's absence, other soul food restaurants will flourish.
"You've got to make it feel like family," says Leisa. "Have a good time, good food and now you've got to step it up another part. That's on you."
The last day to dine at LL Dent will be Feb. 28.

The Dents say they're putting together a cookbook with the restaurant's dishes so customers can make their favorites at home.
