Officials: 6 family members homeless after fire rips through home
Six people are homeless today after firefighters say a blaze ripped through a two-family house, then reignited hours later on Saturday.
The fire broke out just before 4:30 p.m. at 166 Bond St., leaving Lori Tracey and her five grandchildren without a home
Tracey says the fire ripped through the second floor and rear porch initially. Authorities say the fire reignited shortly before midnight, destroying the third floor and roof. The home was already uninhabitable after the initial flames.
Tracey says three cats were killed in the fire, but two others survived. Firefighters say they were able to save one of the two cats by administering CPR. The pets have been reunited with the family.
Firefighters tell News 12 two civilians received medical treatment after stopping to help, but their injuries were not serious.
The Red Cross has put the victims in a hotel for three days but after that, they say they have no idea where they are going or what they are going to do.
Anyone interested in helping the family with clothes and other necessities asked to call 203-923-8921.
