Lamb on the lam rescued on Gowanus Expressway

A little lamb loose on the Gowanus Expressway was rescued Wednesday morning by the NYPD Highway Patrol.
The incident was captured by some commuters on their cellphones.
Highway Patrol Officer Dominick Gatto told News 12 that he was shocked at the sight of the lamb on the thoroughfare, but immediately took action.
“I didn't realize how fast it was,” said Officer Gatto. “I tried to reach down and grab it as it was coming close to me and it juked right around me and just kept on running."
Police say it took about five minutes to capture the lamb.
According to the city’s Animal Care Center, the lamb, now named Petunia, was taken to the Staten Island ACC. She will then be transferred to Skyland Animal Sancturary & Rescue.
Investigators told AmNY that the lamb may have escaped one of the nearby slaughterhouses in Sunset Park.
