“Parts of a dentist chair:” Saw Mill River cleanup scoops tons of trashPosted: Updated:
Dozens of residents across Westchester County took time out of their weekend to help take care of the environment.
Volunteers came out for the tenth annual Saw Mill River Cleanup.
Teams joined at seven different locations along the river and this year some strange objects turned up. "People toss it from the trails, from the road, and yeah there's just a lot of different trash this year. We got parts of a sink, a very strange looking boot. Before we got in parts of a dentist chair. It's pretty awful things that people throw into the river," says Wendy Zimmerman, board chair of Groundwork Hudson Valley.
Organizers say last year, they collected five tons of litter and hoped to up that number this year.
