Pier 1 Imports could be closing up to a 145 stores -- citing a significant drop in sales.

It comes after the retailer already closed 30 stores last month.

The possible closures are the latest in a long string of closures for retailers across the U.S.

The number of U.S. store closures this year has already surpassed the entire total from last year.

The Texas-based home goods retailer is known for selling furniture, home decor and other accessories.
