Police: Man wearing only underwear and 1 sock charged for burglary

A Wayne man charged two weeks ago for allegedly breaking into cars is now accused of trying to break into a home while wearing only underwear and a single sock.
Wayne police say that officers received reports of a naked man running around Chatham Court Monday morning around 3:30 a.m. The caller told police that a man wearing only black boxer-briefs and a single white and gray sock woke him up by banging on his door and wall in what appeared to be an attempt to break into the home.
The caller told police that he believed the man to be 21-year-old Joseph Derissio because he recognized him from a newspaper article about how Derissio was charged for allegedly breaking into six vehicles in town on April 5.
Police say that officers went to Derissio’s home and found him walking up from a dead-end area. Derissio was taken to the hospital for evaluation due to this “actions and behavior.”
Derissio was charged with burglary and criminal mischief and is being held at the Passaic County Jail.
