One person was killed in an apparent car explosion Sunday in Scotchtown.
Claire Schneider describes the terrifying moments Sunday morning captured in cellphone video received from a News 12 viewer.
"We just heard a loud explosion and it sounded like a car hit a telephone pole. So, my son looked out the window and there was a huge cloud of smoke and a car on fire," she says.
Police and firefighters are still trying to confirm all the details of the incident, but News 12 spoke with people living at the Sherwood Forest apartments who say a car burst into flames after crashing into another parked vehicle on the complex.
Residents tell News 12 that it didn't take long before police and firefighters arrived on the scene, but unfortunately, it was too late. They say a person inside the car didn't survive.
The person has not been identified, and there is no word on the cause of the fire.
