Wet spring poses challenges for farmers

The constant wet conditions this April through May make it a challenging year for farmers in the Black Dirt Region.
Chris Pawelski says the weather of this past spring has made it one of the most challenging years in his lifetime for his onion farm in Goshen. Even with the hot sun of Monday, his field was still soggy and difficult to work in.
Pawelski’s planting season was delayed. He says his tractor started to sink inside of a deep wet spot in his field and that he had to back up and stop his work otherwise, he would have needed a plow to get his machine out.
Pawelski says he hopes the wet weather will be replaced by steady sunshine so he can get back to work.
