Local nonprofit ‘Operation Queen’ offers hair, makeup services completely free for prom season

A local nonprofit is giving back to the community so some residents can look their best, specifically seniors attending their prom.
Some lucky high school teens in Yonkers had the option of having their hair and makeup done for their prom completely free from the nonprofit organization, Operation Queen.
“We wanna make sure they get that same experience,” Yulissa Wortham, the CEO of Operation Queen, said. “Because nowadays kids treat prom like they’re going to a wedding.”
The nonprofit provides free makeover services for girls to get their makeup and hair done for prom, so they can feel just as good as their peers.
“They’re getting a full-on makeover,” Wortham said. “They’re getting sew-ins, they’re getting lace fronts, they’re getting lashes, they’re getting glitter.”
Services like this for prom can sometimes cost hundreds of dollars. Everybody who does the makeovers for the girls are volunteers, and just wants to make young girls “feel like queens.”
