Lawmakers appeal to FBI to reassess travel advisory to Dominican Republic

Lawmakers in New Jersey are appealing to the FBI to investigate tourist deaths in the Dominican Republic.
According to authorities, Joseph Allen, 55, of Avenel, is one of at least nine Americans who died in the country in recent weeks.
Authorities say Allen had no history of medical issues. An autopsy report confirmed he died of cardiac arrest.
Congressman Frank Pallone says the State Department needs to reassess the travel advisory.
"I urge you to provide the bereaving families with consistent updates as the Department of State works with the FBI and the Government of the Dominican Republic to determine the cause of death for these individuals," says Pallone.

Currently, the travel advisory is level two for the country – meaning exercise increased caution.
