A family is homeless after a fire New City overnight.

Fire officials say flames broke out at the home on Little Tor Road around 2 a.m. today.

They aren't sure how the fire started but it appears it began outside near a garage and spread up to the roof.

The five residents, and their dog, were able to get out safely.

The house suffered extensive damage and the homeowners will have to find another place to live while repairs are made.
