City officials are asking New Yorkers to take caution as an expected heat wave nears.
They advise residents to carry a water bottle, wear sunscreen and avoid any strenuous activity for too long. If possible, visit a cooling center, splash pad, beach or pool.
One family says that visits to the pool mean not only exercise and a reprieve from the heat, but a way for children to socialize.
