Rep. Lowey holds gun reform roundtable, demands Republicans take actionPosted: Updated:
A Hudson Valley lawmaker is demanding her Republican colleagues in Congress take action on gun reform.
Rep. Nita Lowey held a gun violence roundtable discussion Monday at the Greenburg Public Library with advocates, members of law enforcement and survivors of mass shootings.
"We've got to get these assault weapons off the street and have tough gun control measures,” she says.
Some of the advocates at the roundtable discussion at the library are demanding Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell bring the Senate back in session to vote on what they say are common sense gun laws.
Lowey recently helped secure $50 million in funding to support research into firearm injury and deaths.
